With a passion for fostering linguistic bridges and promoting cultural understanding, I embarked on an academic journey focused on Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. I earned my BA from Huaqiao University and subsequently pursued my M.Ed. from Beijing International Studies University. This year, I attained the prestigious IBDP certification in language and literature teaching, further enhancing my expertise in educational methodologies.

Prior to joining Britannica, my teaching adventures led me to the vibrant classrooms of South Korea, where I ignited a passion for Mandarin among middle school students. Subsequently, my journey took me to the bustling metropolis of New York City, where I taught Mandarin and Chinese culture at a university level.

Now, in my seventh year at Britannica, in addition to my primary role as a Mandarin teacher, I have also served as a House Coordinator for the past two years. Throughout this fulfilling journey, I have been fortunate to collaborate with a diverse array of individuals, all united in our pursuit of excellence in student achievement and holistic development. As a proud member of the Britannica family, I am deeply dedicated to nurturing an inclusive and vibrant learning environment that not only sharpens linguistic proficiency but also fosters a profound appreciation for the beauty, depth, and global significance of Chinese culture.

Chichi was born and raised in Shanghai, she graduated from East China Normal University, majoring in Primary Education. She gained her Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in Shanghai.

After graduating, she taught Mandarin in different international schools in Shanghai, e.g.: Community International School Shanghai (SCIS), Singapore International School Shanghai (SSIS). This experience then brought Chichi to Britannica International School Shanghai, where she has been teaching for the past 5 years. In total, Chichi has over 15 years of teaching experience.

At Britannica, Chichi specializes in Mandarin teaching. She feels very honored to be able to teach students from all over the world Chinese culture and knowledge, she is also in charge of the Chinese dance program of the annual CNY performance, hoping to bring more Chinese cultural experience to students.

With nearly a decade of experience in the field of education, Yolanda has developed a deep appreciation for working with children and takes great pride in guiding them to reach their full potential in their studies.

At Britannica, Yolanda is a dedicated member of the Mandarin team, teaching Mandarin to both native and non-native speakers. She actively encourages her students to immerse themselves in the language and culture of her homeland to improve students' Mandarin proficiency and enhance students' understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture.

Alice was born and raised in Shanghai, China. She graduated from the University of Leeds with a master’s degree in MA Education. Prior to that, she studied at Shanghai Normal University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. Alice has obtained both a Teacher Qualification Certificate (TQC) and the Certificate for teachers of Chinese to speakers of other languages (CTCSOL) qualification.

Alice worked as a form tutor and Chinese teacher in a local primary school in Shanghai for four years and has also worked with children in a local primary school in the UK while studying abroad. Additionally, she has teaching experience in guiding HSK exams at Fudan University.

At Britannica, Alice engages with students in year 1 to 9, covering courses for both native and non-native speakers, as well as native language classes. She is dedicated to providing a supportive learning environment for students of all levels.

Cecilia began her teaching journey in Genova, Italy, where after graduation, she earned her teaching qualification (24 CFU). She spent two years teaching primary students, focusing on helping children from diverse backgrounds integrate into the Italian learning system. Seeking new experiences, Cecilia moved to Shanghai to immerse herself in a different culture and language. After completing her Bachelor’s Degree at Donghua University, she pursued her passion for teaching Italian at Britannica International School, where she has been a dedicated member of the team for the past five years.

In her time at Britannica, Cecilia has taken on the role of Director of World Languages. She is committed to enhancing her teaching practice by studying innovative methodologies, such as the Metodo Analogico developed by Camillo Bortolato. Her multilingual abilities and diverse teaching experiences allow her to connect with students on a deeper level, ensuring that she meets their unique needs as they embark on their learning journeys.

She received a degree in Computer Science from the University of Portsmouth and went on to train as a teacher of secondary computing under a scholarship from the British Computing Society of which she is a member. She received her QTS and PGCE from the University of East London and has taught at comprehensive and grammar schools in the UK.

After teaching in England, Connie came to Shanghai where she worked with bilingual students teaching Maths and Computer Science before joining Britannica International School Shanghai as the Computing Teacher for Secondary.

Jaco hails from South Africa and has established himself as a dedicated educator at Britannica. He earned his Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Following his graduation, Jaco began his teaching career at Kenridge Primary School in 2018, where he taught Physical Education across various year levels, deepening his insight into child development and the essential role of physical activity in fostering confidence and skills.

In August 2020, Jaco joined Britannica as a Physical Education teacher. After a year, he was promoted to Director of Sports, a role he has embraced for the past three years. In this capacity, Jaco oversees the entire physical education program, manages sports events, and coordinates teams, all while inspiring students to engage in activities that enhance their well-being.

Throughout his career, Jaco has passionately collaborated with students, parents, and colleagues to create a supportive environment focused on student growth and achievement. His commitment to promoting sports as a vehicle for personal development continues to make a significant impact within the Britannica community, where he strives to foster a lifelong love for physical activity among his students.

Jack was born and raised in Norfolk, England. He studied at the University of Wolverhampton, where he obtained a BA in Sports Coaching. Following his undergraduate studies Jack completed qualifications to become an FA accredited football coach and certified gym instructor. Having spent the early part of his career working with children to improve their sporting ability and physical fitness, Jack decided to pursue a PGCE and make the transition to teaching. Jack has experience of both the UK and IB curriculum.

Jack has over 8 years of teaching experience both in the UK and abroad. He has worked in schools in Ho Chi Minh City and Ninh Binh City in Vietnam. After spending 3 years in Vietnam, Jack relocated to Chengdu for 2 years, eventually settling in Shanghai, where he has been working for the past 3 and a half years. This journey led Jack to Britannica International School Shanghai in 2023.

At Britannica, Jack has been entrusted with using his wealth of experience within football to play a key role in developing the school's Britannica Knights football program. He has also taken great pleasure in being a secondary form tutor since joining Britannica. Throughout his career, Jack has had the privilege of working alongside a variety of individuals, all united in their commitment to fostering student growth and overall well-being.

Kyle grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, where his passion for teaching began. He completed his TEFL qualification and embarked on his journey as a language teacher in South Korea for a year. Following this, he spent six enriching years in Shanghai, China, where he specialised in early years education for three years as a manager in early childhood development.

Kyle then moved to Britannica International School to pursue his passion for Physical Education. Now in his third year as a PE teacher, he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role. An active sports coach prior to joining Britannica, he is an integral part of the school's Ultimate Frisbee, Football, and Swimming teams in a coaching role. Kyle’s commitment to fostering a love for sports in his students is evident in his enthusiastic and innovative approach to teaching and coaching.

His greatest joy comes from watching students develop a love for an instrument, knowing it's something they’ll carry with them for life.

Nick is currently pursuing an MA in Transcultural and Traditional Studies at the University of Sheffield, further deepening his knowledge of global music traditions. Outside of teaching, he enjoys composing original music and is active in the Shanghai scene, performing Scottish ceilidh music and playing in a funk band.

Additionally, he possesses a Bachelor's Degree in Film and TV Production from Southampton Solent University, as well as a Higher National Diploma in Creative Media Production from Chesterfield College, giving him a broad understanding of creative and performing arts.

At Nord Anglia Chinese International School (NACIS) Shanghai, he served as a Grade 3 International Leader, overseeing a team of 11 teachers, setting performance targets, and managing curriculum plans aligned with international standards. In Beijing, Luke worked as a Lead Teacher and Curriculum Developer at Smart Kids International Kindergartens, where he created an extensive suite of lesson plans and spearheaded e-learning initiatives, enhancing phonics instruction and teacher training. These roles refined his leadership, curriculum development, and teaching skills in diverse educational settings.

Through continuous professional development, Luke has cultivated skills in curriculum design, lesson planning, and integrating technology into the classroom, making him well-suited for modern, international teaching contexts.
