The Council of International Schools (CIS) is a membership community committed to high quality international education.
CIS is a global organisation of more than 1300 educational institutions promoting these ideals:
- A desire to provide students with the knowledge, skill and abilities to pursue their lives as global citizens.
- A commitment to high quality international education.
All CIS members must infuse their programmes and offerings with international and intercultural perspective so that students can move forward with the attitudes and understanding that will provide them with a solid base wherever their studies or work may take them. School members must commit to undertaking an ongoing external quality assurance process to enhance student learning. Schools that meet the exacting standards of CIS in global citizenship and high quality international education are able to apply for an accreditation award. Currently, just over 500 CIS member schools have been granted accreditation. The quality and rigour of CIS International Accreditation is recognised by ministries, departments of education, and universities around the world as demonstration of a school’s commitment to high quality international education.
For Parents sending their child to and for Teachers working in a CIS accredited school it gives confidence of the quality of education provided and the commitment of the school to continuous improvement.
Britannica International School, Shanghai, is proud to be an accredited CIS school and give this confidence and commitment to all its Parents and Teachers.
