As we march through the academic year, it is our pleasure to share with you the latest updates and celebrations from Year 2.

We were thrilled that our recent awards assembly was a resounding success. It was truly heartwarming to see our Year 2 students being recognized for their hard work, dedication, and outstanding achievements. We are immensely proud of each and every one of them. At Britannica International School, we believe in nurturing a positive and inclusive learning environment. Our core values of Integrity, Compassion, Respect, Responsibility, and Excellence underpin everything we do. We encourage our students to embrace these values both inside and outside the classroom, fostering a sense of character and integrity that will serve them well throughout their lives.

More success and achievement has been had in the classroom. In Science, our young learners have been exploring the fascinating layers of the Earth and the powerful phenomena of volcanoes. They have been actively engaged in constructing 3D models, demonstrating their understanding of these concepts. We are thrilled to witness their enthusiasm for hands-on learning.

In English, our students have been honing their writing skills through the engaging framework of 'Talk4Writing.' Taking inspiration from Helen Ward's captivating book, The Tin Forest, our imaginative students have created their own stories. This process has not only fostered their creativity but has also provided valuable practice in using a writing toolkit to structure their narratives effectively.

Mathematics continues to be an exciting journey for our students. They have been consolidating their understanding of money, actively calculating change, and applying their number bonds while solving various word problems. As we move forward, our young mathematicians will be exploring multiplication and division using equal groups, broadening their mathematical skill set.

Year 4 have continued with their hard work as we approach the Chinese New Year holiday.

The levels of curiosity and enthusiasm to learn new ideas has been a prevalent feature throughout the year with these fantastic students. Long may it continue!

In English studies, the children have been expressing themselves creatively through their words as they delved into the world of poetry. With a newfound knowledge of syllables, rhythm rhyming and other poetic writing tools, the students enjoyed writing different types of poetry including some beautiful Haikus and cryptic Kenning poems.

We applied our mathematical abilities outside of the classroom this week as we measured the perimeter of the school field to ensure its symmetry and find the perimeter total – learning in context is a vital part of the learning process here at Britannica school!

In Science studies, the children have been learning about electricity and have thoroughly enjoyed building circuits, exploring through trial and error what makes a complete circuit and drawing Scientific diagrams of these. This has provided the cross curricular element to our learning this term as the children have also been captivated in our Topic lessons about sustainability. The electrical theme continued as the children displayed their programming skills whilst creating algorithms and downloading onto Micro Bits.
