The whole EYFS kicked off this week by celebrating the beginning of our Chinese New Year celebrations and watching the Dragon and Lion dance with the whole school community. The students from Pre-Nursery to Reception watched in awe and cheered as the dragons swept past in time to the drums and the lions leapt around. Celebrations continued for all students in class during Mandarin as they learnt about the upcoming festival. A huge congratulations to Reception who represented EYFS with pride on stage during our Chinese New Year performances. Well done Reception!

On top of all this excitement students have been deepening their knowledge of their topics through interactive stimulating activities. Pre-Nursery built on their key vocabulary of farm animals as they matched baby animals to their mums. They have loved using the interactive whiteboard to select the correct animals and used picture lists to check off which mum they had found on the farm. While in Nursery there have been lovely smells of baking as the children made delightful cupcakes for Little Red Riding Hoods Grandma. Let’s hope the Big Bad Wolf did not eat them! Along with their performing, this week Reception managed to get down to the concept of estimating in Mathematics, using dinosaurs as their stimulus. I wonder if they estimated how many dumplings they could eat in one go?

Thank you to all parents for returning their Parents Evening forms. Class teachers will be allocating time slots for everyone in the next week. Please do keep an eye out for information in your child’s communication book or in an email.
