Year 7 and Year 8 students have been working on a paper collage that is inspired by Pop Art for the past few weeks in the art classroom. They have learned about the origins of Pop Art as well as the methods employed by its practitioners, namely Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. The students are aware of the distinctive characteristics of the Art movement and especially the fact that Pop art incorporates current pop culture items caught the attention of the students. The collage creation activity has helped them understand the usage of colours, create an iconic style of artwork, and be confident in using mixed media to finalise the artwork.

Students in Year 9 have been working on creating a booklet that includes Art principles and elements for the past few weeks. Students were given the freedom to choose any art supplies they want but they had to include each Art component in the booklet. The activity has challenged them to think out of the box in terms of choosing the art media and has improved their comprehension of the lesson in-depth.
