This week the Secondary school student's have embarked on a number of Anti-Bullying activities based on this year’s theme of “The Power of Good” In a world where so much of young people’s lives takes place online this is a great opportunity to reflect on this message. This week during our assembly, PSHE lessons, and form-time activities, students have explored how even the smallest of positive actions can change someone’s day, shape the tone of a group chat, or help someone feel they have been supported. Our Computing department, under Miss Westoby's tutelage, also guided our students through cyberbullying, digital empathy, and the impact of our online choices.

Throughout the week, students were challenged to use their Power of Good online by: Pausing before they post, share, or comment, Choosing kindness over negativity, Stepping in, directly or indirectly, when someone is being targeted and checking in with peers who might be feeling isolated or overwhelmed In an age where messages travel instantly and emotions can escalate quickly, we want all students to recognise the influence they have. A single encouraging comment, a simple “are you okay?”, or choosing not to forward a hurtful message can have a bigger impact than they realise. Kindness is powerful and it can spread just as quickly online. Our Anti-Bullying Week was finished of on Friday with an Odd Sock Day to celebrate individuality and diversity whilst emphasising that it is okay to be different. By wearing mismatched socks we can promote a sense of unity and awareness, helping to create a positive environment where differences are embraced rather than ridiculed.

If you would like resources or advice on supporting your child with online behaviour, digital wellbeing, or cyberbullying, please feel free to contact the school or visit the Anti-Bullying Alliance website for guidance. And we hope the discussions students have here will continue into their homes and communities.
