What a fantastic day we had celebrating the end of summer with our Early Years Summer Splash! Children across Pre-Nursery, Nursery, and Reception came together for a day full of water play, laughter, and shared experiences.
From splashing in the inflatable pools and tossing beach balls to sporting cool sunglasses and colourful flower garlands, the children thoroughly enjoyed every moment. It was wonderful to see them blowing bubbles, playing alongside teachers, and sharing a delicious snack together as a community.
Events like these are not only memorable and fun, but they also provide rich learning opportunities aligned with the Birth to 5 Matters framework:
- Personal Social and Emotional Development: Playing across Pre-Nursery, Nursery, and Reception allowed children to interact with peers of different ages. They practiced turn-taking, built confidence in a multi-age group setting, and enjoyed a sense of belonging during our shared snack time.
- Physical Development: Splashing in pools, chasing, throwing and catching beach balls and blowing bubbles encouraged co-ordinated movement, spatial awareness and both fine and gross motor control.
- Communication and Language: Sharing experiences with peers and teachers in a relaxed, joyful environment sparked rich conversations, active listening and new vocabulary related to the summer theme.
- Understanding the World: Experiencing the properties of water, observing bubbles float and celebrating seasonal changes provided hands-on opportunities for natural curiosity and inquiry.
The joy and energy of the day reminded us of how powerful shared experiences can be in helping children build friendships, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the season. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special!
