This week in EYFS the children showed their curiosity as they began their second topic of the term, considering what they would like to find out.

Pre-Nursery’s topic changed to ‘Me and My Senses.’ The children began learning all about themselves and what their bodies can do. This week we have been learning the vocabulary of our bodies and explored moving our bodies. We have been learning how to name the parts of our body in English by singing ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.’ In Nursery we began our new learning journey exploring, ‘Seasons and Celebrations.’ We started off by looking at the changes in the environment that happen during Autumn. The children have been discovering all the colours of Autumn leaves and learning some new vocabulary that is associated with this time of year. We have continued reading the story of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and now the children are very good at remembering the sequence of events in the story. We have also been singing a new song called ‘Dingle Dangle Scarecrow’ and everybody enjoys joining in with the movement and actions to this song. In Maths we have been talking about size comparison as well as looking at number lines and order. Reception had a wonderful time exploring our new topic, ‘All Around the World.’ We explored a traditional Mexican festival and some of the cultures associated with it, such as sharing special bread with chocolate milk. The children enjoyed using action words, such as, ‘add, sprinkle, chop and cut,’ as they made their own delicious guacamole. In Maths we have developed our use of ordinal numbers, taking part in some fun races, and making medals for our friends.
