This morning the children had a wonderful time in the sunshine as they enjoyed taking part in our Early Years Beach Party. The children enjoyed playing in paddling pools, wearing summer accessories and exploring bubbles before sharing a refreshing fruit salad. These activities were designed to foster socialisation, team building and cooperation, key elements for social development.

Please do read on to see what other activities the children have taken part in this week.

This week Pre-Nursery concluded their topic 'On the Farm' by learning all about scarecrows and what vegetables grow on a farm. Through the fun rhyme 'Dingle Dangle Scarecrow' we explored how scarecrows look after the crops farmers grow by scaring away the birds.

We had so much fun learning the 'Dingle Dangle Scarecrow' rhyme where we used large body movements to dance along with the rhyme.

Nursery are coming to the end of their topic ‘In the Garden’ and are embarking on a new learning journey. For this we merged the end of one topic with the start of a new one based on ‘Adventures.’ To do this, we read two stories ‘What the Ladybird Heard at the Seaside’ and ‘Snail on a Whale.’ Nursery are now ready for a learning adventure at sea!

In Maths we have been comparing groups of objects by using ‘more than’ and ‘fewer than’ language sentences. Nursery have also been having a go at estimation by looking at groups and trying to guess the amount.

Reception had a wonderful week exploring the ocean and the sea creatures in it! The children took part in many activities relating to the sea and learnt some interesting facts about some inhabitants.

In Phonics, they continued learning new sounds and incorporating these into their blending and writing. We are so very proud of their progress and their ability to write their own independent sentences.

In Maths, we reviewed many of the concepts that we have learnt throughout the year and introduced halving, using loose parts to demonstrate how to half even numbers.
