This week Early Years have relished at the opportunity to take their learning outside of the classroom. Outdoor learning allows children to engage with nature, explore their senses, promoting overall well-being and a lifelong connection to the natural world.
Pre-Nursery embarked on a journey to our Eco Garden where they observed the seasonal changes. They listened to the crunching sound of the leaves as they walked and collected leaves of different sizes and colours. The children used these to print and to make a nest for the baby owls who they have been taking care of this week as part of their class story, ‘Owl Babies.’
Nursery have taken full advantage of the glorious weather this week and have spent a lot of time outdoors. The children started off the week by going on a nature walk to the Eco Garden to collect leaves, sticks and other natural objects.
Some of these collected items have been used in art projects this week. Everyone has made a Mouse collage out of different sized leaves. From this, Nursery took their learning journey in a ‘Gruffalo’ direction and have enjoyed discovering this story.
Reception have been developing their vocabulary through the story of, ‘The Wise Owl and the Curious Squirrel.’ They learnt what it meant to be ‘wise’ and ‘curious’ and have been writing about their knowledge on our ‘Wise Wall.’
We very much look forward to our Greenovation Week next week where the children will develop an understanding of the importance of recycling and their role in our world. We look forward to sharing their work with you next Friday.
