We have had an absolutely wonderful Storytelling Week with a particular focus on developing students’ spoken language skills by retelling and innovating stories. Today, students have swapped and read aloud their stories to a different class and year group taking turns to enjoy the imaginative changes that the student authors have made to characters, settings and events. Yesterday we also had lots of fun as we dressed up as our favourite book characters and in assemblies we enjoyed listening carefully to the various mystery readers to try to identify who the reader was and what story they were reading. Another highlight was the very popular book fair where we had the opportunity to browse and purchase from a range of exciting books. Year 1 also had lots of fun at the Ice Park on their first school trip which supported their learning in class and their story focus of ‘The Snow Queen’.
