It has been a fantastic and energetic term for our Primary Houses at Britannica International School Shanghai. Across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, our students have continued to show what the House system is all about: teamwork, participation, encouragement, resilience and pride in representing their colours.
Our four Houses, Green Dragons, Red Phoenix, Yellow Tigers and Blue Lions, have been collecting points throughout the term through assemblies, sporting challenges, weekly achievements and everyday examples of positive school spirit. These opportunities help bring our school values to life: being excellent, respectful, responsible, showing integrity and demonstrating compassion.
This term included several exciting House events. In Key Stage 1, Year 1 and Year 2 took part in a lively Hot Potato House Competition in the sports hall. The energy, laughter and teamwork made it a brilliant example of friendly competition and House pride. In Key Stage 2, students competed in the annual House Tug of War Tournament on the front field, showing determination, strength and fantastic support for their teammates.
A major highlight this term was our first ever Primary House Swimming Gala at Britannica International School Shanghai. This was a very special moment for our Primary House programme and created incredible energy and excitement across the school. Students competed proudly for their Houses, cheered each other on, and showed excellent confidence, resilience and sportsmanship in the pool. It was wonderful to see the House spirit come alive in a new and memorable way.
The final combined Swimming Gala results were:
| Position | House | Swimming Gala Points |
| 1st | Green Dragons | 401 |
| 2nd | Blue Lions | 345 |
| 3rd | Yellow Tigers | 334 |
| 4th | Red Phoenix | 307 |
A special congratulations goes to Green Dragons, who finished top of the first ever Primary House Swimming Gala standings. Every House contributed to making this event such a success, and the gala has set an exciting standard for future House competitions at Britannica.

As we now move into the final week, the overall House Championship standings are incredibly close and exciting:
| Position | House | Total House Points |
| 1st | Blue Lions | 9,234 |
| 2nd | Green Dragons | 9,101 |
| 3rd | Yellow Tigers | 8,661 |
| 4th | Red Phoenix | 8,373 |
With only a short time left, Blue Lions currently lead the race, but Green Dragons are close behind, and every House should be proud of the enthusiasm, effort and teamwork they have shown throughout the year.
The House system is not only about winning. It is about belonging, trying your best, supporting others and celebrating the many ways our Primary students contribute to school life. Whether students earned points through sport, assemblies, classroom effort, kindness or weekly recognition, every contribution has helped build the wonderful House spirit we have seen this year.
There will be a big announcement soon revealing which House has won the 2025–2026 Primary House Championship. For now, well done to all four Houses for an outstanding term of participation, pride and school spirit.
