BA

I began teaching following the completion of my Bachelor’s degree in the UK. I decided to focus my attention on Primary education as this age group has always interested me; the potential for progress in such a short amount of time is fascinating.

I aim to develop my teaching beyond simple language acquisition to a more holistic approach, developing independent learners with a growth mindset. After teaching in Europe, I relocated to Shanghai working as a class teacher, delivering the KS1 English National curriculum. I take pride in catering for each individual child and ensuring their needs are met.

I have always believed teaching to be an extremely rewarding career; facilitating students learning, watching them grow and move beyond expectations is a pleasure to witness. Providing a rich learning environment and a classroom which provides a sense of belonging to all my learners is a priority.

BA Hons

I graduated from the University of Winchester in 2006 with a BA (hons) in Primary Education with QTS and English specialism. This is now my 15th year of teaching having taught both in England and Internationally. Excitingly this is my 8thyear at Britannica and I continue to enjoy being a part of the hard working and driven team of teachers where we inspire and enthuse children every single day. If you were to step into my classroom you will find a vibrant and interactive environment where children are provided with the necessary tools and guidance to become lifelong learners. I pride myself on creating a safe and secure place for all children to learn and develop with happy, smiling and confident attitudes.

In my spare time I continue to enjoy spending time with friends and family, exploring new places, as well as being an avid Formula 1 fan and an enthusiastic book worm!

I am looking forward to a wonderful 8th year at Britannica as Year 5 Lead and Year 5C class teacher.

BA Hons / PGCE

I began my teaching journey in South Korea, where I taught younger students living in remote rural areas, who had little to no exposure to English. The enjoyment of this experience, coupled with my love of literature, made me decide to return to the UK and become a secondary English teacher. After teaching in the UK, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to come and work in a bilingual school here in China, which allowed me to utilise my previous experiences together. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed teaching in the UK and internationally, and I’m greatly looking forward to continuing my journey here at Britannica.

BA Hons, PGCE

I was born and raised in Southampton, England. History has been my passion since childhood. In 2012, I graduated from University College London with a First-Class degree in History. I subsequently entered teaching and earned a PGCE from the University of Chichester.

I find a lot of fulfillment in helping students to learn and enjoy their time at school. I am also keenly aware of teaching’s role in raising capable citizens and building a healthy society. This is especially true of History. It equips students with the critical thinking skills and contextual knowledge they need to engage with the world. If I can help to equip students in this way, it is my duty to do so.

BA Hons, PGCE

After completing my BA (Hons) in English and Creative Writing at John Moore’s University, I then went on to attain my English PGCE from the globally-renowned Institute of Education, University of London.

I have been teaching for almost ten years. I first spent two years teaching within a public school in London, catering to many students with varying academic needs and abilities. After this experience, I then decided to embark on my journey to China. Firstly, for one year in a boarding school on the outskirts of Guangzhou before moving to Shanghai where I have spent six wonderful years leading, developing and implementing the middle school English curriculum.

I want to provide my students with a means of broadening their way of thinking, expressing themselves, supporting them whilst they strive for greatness, to challenge themselves and the world around them. I want to be able to remove the stigma attached to Shakespeare and show that, despite being written hundreds of years ago, it is still as relevant and relatable as ever!

Education has always been an important part of my life, with my mother having taught for the better part of three decades. Throughout my childhood, my mother’s commitment to education and the value she placed on the importance of lifelong learning was inspiring.

The opportunity of being a part of a child’s journey through their learning remains a truly humbling experience, and nothing is more gratifying than to see curiosity bloom, concepts overcome and potential realized. This ‘learning journey’ is undoubtedly a process, which at times is challenging, however, irrespective of this, to be a part of this process is a privilege and one to which I have endeavored to devote my career.

My goals at Britannica are relatively simple. My first impression of Britannica as a whole is one of family and community. This is an incredible environment to be a part of and one which allows for incredible opportunities to flourish. I aim to work diligently toward integrating into the Britannica family and to become a contributing member to an educational establishment that is focused on guiding students toward their potential, not only academically but also as well-rounded individuals.
