During my tour of Britannica last year, I asked a student what they enjoyed about the school, to which he responded; "It feels like being part of a big family." My experience so far has confirmed this comment. Upon graduating from the University of Cape Town, I worked as an ESL teacher in Shanghai from 2015 until joining Britannica last year. I quickly felt part of the Britannica family with being immersed in a positive teaching and learning environment wherein all members strive for progress and excellence.

BA, M.Ed.

I graduated with a BA (International) in French and Irish from Dublin City University in Ireland. During my studies I had the opportunity to enter the Erasmus programme studying for one year at The University of Lorraine in France where I gained a greater understanding and appreciation for French Language and Culture. Following this, I completed a 2-year Master of Education at Trinity College Dublin. During this time, I gained valuable teaching experience working as a supply teacher in many reputable primary and secondary schools across the country.

Having completed my postgraduate course, I moved to Scotland where I lived and worked within Glasgow city. I facilitated and supported students with SEN and EAL. I taught a range of subjects to students including French, English and Health & Wellbeing. Following this, I returned to Ireland and began working within a secondary school in South Dublin where I taught languages.

I’m now going into my third-year teaching EAL at Britannica and my second year as Head of Department. My aim is to provide a stimulating and focused learning environment for students, where the subject is interesting, learning is enjoyable, and students of all English proficiencies can succeed and experience success.

I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher and finished my degree in Education in 2017.

As a child, I had a few amazing teachers who taught me a lot when I was at school. This made me realize that I can also make a difference in other children’s lives. It is one of the best feelings to see the excitement in a child’s face when he or she succeeds at something. As an educator, I can help them to achieve their goals. I want to be remembered as the teacher who gave every child every chance, everyday.

I will be joining the Physical Education department at Britannica this year. I am very excited as I have always been passionate about sport, I firmly believe that physical education can have a huge impact on students, both physically and mentally. My goal at Britannica is to deliver engaging lessons, foster a love of sport and physical wellbeing and provide opportunities for students to develop their skills in different sports.
