Ronan is from the West Midlands region of the UK, where he studied at Bablake School in Coventry, before studying Geography at the University of Exeter in Devon. Ronan then studied his PGCE in Secondary Geography Education at the University of Warwick, and worked at a school in Watford for two years before moving to China.

Ronan moved to Shanghai in 2021 to work as Teacher of Geography and Housemaster at Harrow International School teaching Geography at Key Stage Three, Four and Five, before moving to Britannica in 2023. Ronan teaches Geography and Global Perspectives at Britannica, working as Head of Sixth Form and Head of Humanities. These dual roles allow Ronan to oversee the various different Pastoral and Academic needs of the Sixth Form, as well as coordinating the different subjects within the Humanities Department.

Ronan has also taken the opportunity to tie his passion for teaching with his love of sports by coaching the Britannica Knights Basketball team for the past two years.
