This article provides you with further information to help you communicate with the school. We consider good two-way communication between school and home essential to maximise student learning. As a school we also value the input from parents to help guide our school development planning and to ensure that the school develops in a way to best meet student and parent needs.

WeChat Groups

In addition to the school WeChat platform, which we intend to use more this year to communicate on a daily basis with parents, it is suggested that parents within each class set up their own WeChat group to aid communication between parents within the class. This will help you share information with each other as well as jointly plan how as a group you can support the school and the learning taking place in your child’s class.

We suggest that one parent in each class sends to the school PA, Ms. Moon Ji, at Moon.ji@britannicashanghai.com the QR code for a class WeChat group. Ms. Moon will then share that QR code with all parents in that class. Due to privacy issues our teachers will not join WeChat groups.

Friends of Britannica

Friends of Britannica is the official parent voice of the school. It provides a forum which can share directly with the school leadership team, at formal meetings held once every half-term, concerns or questions posed by the wider parent body.

The first meeting of Friends of Britannica for this academic year will be held on Monday 23rd September, between 9:00am and 10:00am in the Senior Learning Centre on the fourth floor. All parents are invited who would be interested in joining this group.

The aim is to make the group as representative as possible of the parent body. Ideally the group will consist of parents representing each year and across the different nationalities.

We look forward to you joining us!

Afternoon Tea with the SLT team

Last year, our nationality coffee mornings were extremely popular with our different groups of parents. We recognise that within our global school, our parent stakeholders often have different questions, different priorities for their child and seek different support from the school.

This year we will be holding regular ‘afternoon teas’ with different nationality groups.

The first events for these are on the following dates:

  • Monday 2nd September - English Speaker Parents Afternoon Tea 2:00pm to 3:00pm
  • Tuesday 3rd September - Chinese Parents Afternoon Tea 2:00pm to 3:00pm
  • Wednesday 4th September - Korean Parents Afternoon Tea 2:00pm to 3:00pm
  • Friday 6th September - Japanese Parents Afternoon Tea 2:00pm to 3:00pm

These events will take place in the Senior Learning Centre on the 4th Floor. We look forward to you joining us at the appropriate event for you.
