As part of our School Development Plan for this academic year, we have a particular focus on Staff and Student Wellbeing. Happy, safe and fulfilled staff and students are what makes a great school. At Britannica we are justifiably proud of being a school where staff want to work and students want to learn. Last week our Crazy Hair Day got everyone into that spirit in school, but community and collaboration started well before this during our staff training days prior to school commencing.

In the first afternoon together for our training days, all staff – Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Administration, got together in teams for a scavenger hunt around Former French Concession. This was a great way to welcome each other back from our holidays, get to know our new colleagues better and for new staff to see a little of what Shanghai has to offer.

The event finished off with well-earned drink and some food at a local restaurant in Xintiandi. Do enjoy the pictures in this post showing some of things we got up to on the scavenger hunt.

On Wednesday this week from 3:15pm to 4:00pm we have a Wellbeing event for our parents. Parents in all years in Primary are invited to a attend a workshop held in the school Theatre on Positive Behaviour Management of Children. This workshop will be led by Katherine Simpson, who has a strong background from the UK on working with parents to inform and better skill them in working positively with their children at home to encourage and develop good child behaviour in the home environment. Similar workshops were held last term, but all parents in Primary who did not attend these are very welcome to join us.
