There have been a lot of developments in Secondary this week, particularly to further improve our enrichment programme.

In Art, Year 7 and 9 students had the wonderful opportunity of visiting the current Exhibition ‘Redic Shanghai Chapters’. Students were invited to come and explore a three-floor, multicultural art exhibition at the historic Cha’s House in Jing`an. The exhibition consisted of eight immersive stories about his time and experiences in Shanghai. Using discarded materials collected from all across the city, Redic has transformed unwanted objects into sustainable art and developed a dynamic exhibition experience.

In our World Scholars Cup sessions, students have been exploring debating, public speaking and an in-depth analysis of famous poets and writers. I have been impressed with how engaged our students have become in this activity and will write to parents separately with some exciting news regarding the formal competition stages.

Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 have been working hard with final preparations for their Autumn Term examinations which will take place on Monday and Tuesday next week. I would like to remind all students they will be required to bring their laptop device both days, and in addition their PE kit on Tuesday.

In Sixth Form, students are continuing with their series of IGCSE and A Level external examinations. Results are scheduled to be released in January 2020 with early indications showing students have yet again made excellent progress in their chosen subject areas.

I would also like to remind all parents of the ‘e-safety’ workshop which is being held on Monday 28th October in the theatre from 14:00-15:00. I have received several confirmations of attendance by email and look forward to seeing parents from all phases of the school at the event.
