It was very strange walking around Early Years today! I went looking for Reception, Nursery and Pre-Nursery, however all I found were princesses, dinosaurs, pumpkins and more! I then realised it was one of our faviourite days for EYFS, which is dress up day! It was wonderful to see the children have so much fun as they explored spooky activities and delighted in showing off their costumes to their friends.

Reception, this week, have taken the spooky theme of Halloween as they began their new topic on Festivals and Celebrations. They have been exploring the theme of Halloween through the wonderful rhyming book ‘Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson. Through this, potions have been made and crafts a like to create a delightful Halloween role-play area.

In Nursery and Pre-Nursery, we have been bringing all our learning together from our first topics ‘People who help us’ and ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear’. The children in both classes have had the chance to consolidate all their learning and share this with their peers. Next week Nursery will begin their topic on ‘Seasons and Celebrations’ and Pre-Nursery will be look at ‘Me and My Senses’.

Wishing all our EYFS children and parents a wonderful weekend and please do enjoy the pictures from our fun week here at Britannica.

Kind regards,

Isla Gillespie
