This week, students in Secondary have had the opportunity to apply for a leadership position within the school, and interviews have been conducted to select our new representatives. We would like to thank all the students who took part for their time, thoughtful ideas and genuine enthusiasm throughout the process. Their commitment has been inspiring and is a testament to the pride they take in contributing to our school community.

Leadership opportunities play a vital role in shaping confident, capable and compassionate young people. Far more than holding a title, leadership equips students with essential life skills, fosters a strong sense of belonging, and reflects the values at the heart of our school community.

By taking on roles such as Student Council Member, Prefect or House Captain, students develop key skills in communication, organisation and teamwork. These qualities not only support their academic journey but also prepare them for the challenges of university and the workplace. Universities and employers value students who show initiative, resilience and collaboration, and leadership experiences at school provide exactly this foundation.

Equally important are the social and interpersonal benefits. Leading peers, listening to different perspectives and working towards shared goals help students grow in empathy, respect and confidence. Leadership opportunities encourage them to balance guiding others with serving them, showing that true leadership is about responsibility, kindness and integrity.

This forms part of the holistic education that our school proudly offers, helping students to grow as whole individuals while contributing positively to their community. Whether organising events, supporting younger peers or representing their House, student leaders bring people together and strengthen the bonds of belonging.

Above all, leadership is a living expression of our school values: respect, collaboration, excellence, integrity and compassion. When our students model these principles, they inspire others, enrich our community and leave a lasting legacy on the culture of the school.
