The first week of school is always a very special and important step in each child’s learning journey. It marks the beginning of new routines, new friendships, and new opportunities to explore, discover, and grow. In EYFS, we understand how important this transition is, and it has been wonderful to see how positively the children have started the new academic year.
Our Pre-Nursery, Nursery, and Reception children have all settled into their new environments incredibly well. They have begun to explore their classrooms, outdoor learning spaces, and daily routines with growing confidence and curiosity. Whether arriving at school for the very first time or returning after the summer break, the children have shown great resilience, enthusiasm, and a willingness to engage with the people and spaces around them.
It has been a delight to watch our youngest learners begin to form relationships with their teachers and classmates. Across EYFS, the children have enjoyed playing together, sharing resources, listening to stories, singing songs, and taking part in creative and sensory activities. These early experiences are so important in helping children feel safe, secure, and ready to learn.
One of the most heart-warming aspects of the week has been seeing our older children supporting the younger children in day-to-day tasks. Whether helping them find resources, modelling routines, offering encouragement, or showing kindness during play, they have demonstrated wonderful independence and compassion. These moments reflect the caring and supportive community we aim to build in EYFS.
We are very proud of how well all of the children have started the year. This first week has laid strong foundations for the exciting learning journey ahead, and we look forward to seeing the children continue to grow in confidence, independence, and joy as the term progresses.
