As we come to the end of another wonderful school year, it is lovely to take a moment to reflect on everything that has happened across EYFS. What a busy, joyful and memorable year it has been!
Throughout the year, the children have grown in confidence, independence and curiosity. Each moment has given them opportunities to explore, ask questions, share ideas and develop new skills through wonderful storytelling, creative projects and outdoor learning.
We have seen the children make fantastic progress in all areas of learning. They have developed their communication and language skills, built friendships, strengthened their physical skills and shown increasing confidence in their early reading, writing and maths. It has been wonderful to see them become more resilient, imaginative and independent learners.
There have been many highlights across the year, including our festivals and celebrations, Sports Day, trips, performances, creative workshops, swimming, assemblies and special themed weeks. The children have approached each experience with enthusiasm and excitement, creating many happy memories along the way.
We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved this year. They have worked hard, shown kindness, embraced challenges and brought so much energy and joy to EYFS each day. Thank you to all our families for your continued support throughout the year. We have loved sharing your children’s learning journey with you and celebrating their achievements together. We wish all of our EYFS families a happy, restful and enjoyable summer holiday, and we look forward to seeing what the children go on to achieve next.
This week, Pre-Nursery reviewed numbers 1–10 and continued to practise counting, alongside exploring ocean animals and beach-themed learning. We revisited our ocean-themed animals and talked about what they eat, as well as the other animals that live around them. The children had a wonderful time singing their favourite songs from the Summer Term and joining in with familiar rhymes. They also enjoyed rereading some of our favourite stories, sharing characters and themes we have explored together over the term. Our song of the week was "Ten Little Fishies", and our story of the week was "Knuffle Bunny", where we discussed how we all grow up and become big kids, even if we still have special cuddly toys that we love.
Wow, what an exciting week we have had in Nursery! Despite the rain and gloomy weather, the children have been sailing the seas and discovering new treasures as they continued their “Under the Sea” learning adventure. They loved reading “Portside Pirates”, where they imagined themselves as pirates searching for hidden treasure in shipwrecks. This week was also extra special because it was our last week together before the summer holidays. We have had so much fun learning and growing together.
Reception have had a very busy final week of term and of the school year. We began the week with a fantastic rainy trip to the farm, where the children enjoyed learning about different vegetables before picking some to take home. A real highlight was feeding the goats! We then developed our mapping skills by drawing maps of the farm and talking about the places we had visited. Later in the week, we listened to the story “Lola’s Sandcastle” and painted our own colourful sandcastles. We ended our week, and our year, with a party to celebrate all of our achievements together.
