To celebrate the Spring Festival in the Year of the Horse, the Mandarin Department organized a vibrant and engaging cultural event for students and staff from both the primary and secondary school sections. The celebration highlighted students’ creativity, confidence and growing understanding of Chinese traditions.
灵马踏春，贺岁呈祥！在马年新春的喜庆氛围中，我校中文部精心策划一场别开生面、精彩纷呈的春节活动，为全体师生带来了一场充满传统文化韵味与青春活力的节日盛宴。此次活动涵盖小学与中学两个学部，活动现场，各年级学生纷纷登台亮相，用精彩纷呈的表演展现了他们的才华横溢与对中国春节文化的深刻理解。
Students from across the year's groups delighted the audience with a wide range of performances. Year 5 students presented “If We Had Never Met” and “Jasmine”, using expressive singing to explore themes of reunion and meaningful connections, which lie at the heart of the Spring Festival.
Our younger learners from Reception, Year 2 and Year 3 brought energy and joy to the stage. Through lively songs and performances, they demonstrated enthusiasm for learning and the importance of cooperation, filling the hall with laughter and smiles.
Year 1 and Year 4 students showcased elements of traditional Chinese culture through poetry, music and Kungfu. Their performances reflected both an appreciation of tradition and a creative approach to presenting it in a modern context.
Y5年级的《如果我们不曾相遇》和《茉莉花》宛如一阵轻柔的春风，吹进了每个人的心田。学生们用动人的歌声，将团圆和相遇的美好寓意娓娓道来，恰似春节为人们带来的那份温馨与幸福，让在场的观众沉浸在浓浓的节日氛围之中。
Y2、Y3年级和Reception班的节目则充满了童真与欢乐。同学们在欢歌笑语中探索知识的奥秘，感受合作的快乐，仿佛将大家带入了一个充满奇幻色彩的知识乐园。
Y4年级的和Y 1的节目 犹如两颗璀璨的明珠，闪耀着传统文化的光芒。学生们不仅展现了古诗、歌曲的韵律之美和功夫的刚劲有力，还重新审视了传统与现代的结合，让古老的传统文化在新时代焕发出新的活力。
A special highlight was the Year 6 and 7 girls ‘dance “Fan Hua”, accompanied by a percussion performance. The elegant movements and dynamic rhythms combined beautifully to create a festive and memorable moment.
Secondary students impressed the audience with their dragon dance, lion dance and flag performance “Thunder of a Thousand Horses”. These performances demonstrated strong teamwork, coordination and confidence, symbolizing unity, strength and positive hopes for the New Year.
As part of their learning, secondary students also presented mini plays based on their whole-book projects. Performances such as “The Story of Nian”, “Harry Potter’s Journey in China” and “The Song Dynasty Through My Eyes” creatively combined drama with cultural learning, helping students deepen their understanding in an engaging way.
Y6&7的女生舞蹈《繁花》与鼓乐演出相辅相成，共同营造了热烈的节日氛围。优美的舞姿与激昂的鼓乐相互交织，仿佛一幅绚丽多彩的画卷，让观众们陶醉其中
中学生表演的舞龙、舞狮与旗舞《万马奔腾》惊艳全场。舞龙时巨龙在默契配合下上下翻飞、气势磅礴；舞狮则活灵活现，动作惟妙惟肖，尽显传统春节魅力。旗舞《万马奔腾》同样气势恢宏，同学们步伐整齐、动作有力，如万马奔腾，彰显团结力量与新年蓬勃生机，为活动添彩。
中学生巧妙地将整本书项目与日常学习相融合，以小品这一鲜活形式直观呈现文化知识：在《年的故事》里，新年文化的深厚底蕴得以生动传承与弘扬；《哈利·波特中国之旅》则别出心裁，将西方经典与中国元素精妙糅合，尽显文化交融的独特魅力；而《我眼中的宋代》更是引领观众穿越时空，回顾宋代繁华盛景，让学生于表演中深切领悟传统文化精髓。
Students shared their New Year wishes through singing, creating a warm and positive atmosphere. The school band’s energetic performance added to the festive mood and highlighted students’ enthusiasm and confidence.
Overall, the Spring Festival celebration provided a valuable opportunity for students to showcase their talents, build confidence, and strengthen their cultural understanding. It was a meaningful and enjoyable event that brought our school community together to welcome the New Year.
