Today, our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) children had a fantastic time celebrating Crazy Hair Day, an event dedicated to embracing individuality and creativity! The day was filled with vibrant colors, imaginative hairstyles, and boundless enthusiasm, making it a truly memorable experience for our little ones.
Crazy Hair Day is not just about the hairstyles; it’s an opportunity for children to express themselves in a fun and creative way. From wild spikes and colorful braids to quirky hats and glitter galore, our children showcased their unique personalities through their hairdos. It was heartwarming to see them walk into school with such confidence, each hairstyle telling its own story.
Events like Crazy Hair Day play a vital role in fostering a sense of community among our children. They encourage children to celebrate differences and appreciate the diverse ways we can express ourselves. As they admired each other’s creations, laughter and joy filled the classrooms, reinforcing friendships and building confidence. This vibrant atmosphere allowed our children to learn important social skills, such as sharing compliments and supporting one another’s creativity.
We also used this occasion to engage our children in discussions about self-expression and the importance of being true to oneself. Activities included storytelling sessions where children shared the inspiration behind their hairstyles, allowing them to practice their communication skills and boost their self-esteem. It was wonderful to witness their creativity shine both in their hairstyles and in their words.
Let’s continue to celebrate individuality and creativity in our children every day! Together, we can nurture an environment where every child feels valued and free to express themselves.
This week, Pre-Nursery friends dove into the exciting topic of "Making Friends." We explored wonderful stories and played engaging games that highlighted the qualities of a good friend. The children unleashed their creativity by painting their own elephant art, and we sang the delightful song "One Elephant" to enhance our skills in rhyme and rhythm. In our sensory bin, we played with vibrant water beads, mirroring the beautiful colors of Elmer from our story. To cap off the week, we celebrated Crazy Hair Day with a thrilling house event.
It has been another great week in Nursery, with everyone becoming increasingly settled. All of the children are arriving confidently, ready to start their day. Nursery has been getting creative and using their imaginations to the fullest! We read the delightful story "Little Cloud" by Eric Carle. The children enjoyed this lovely tale about a little cloud that travels through the sky, morphing into different shapes and sizes. After our story, Nursery ventured outside to do some cloud watching. It was wonderful to see the excitement on the children's faces as they guessed the shapes and imaginary creatures the clouds resembled. In the creative area, everyone got hands-on with paints to create their very own cloud masterpieces. The children worked very hard, and the results are simply beautiful.
Reception has continued to settle in this week and are enjoying their new routines and environment. We have been listening to the story "The Colour Monster" and have delved deeply into our feelings, exploring what makes us happy, sad, and everything in between. We created our own "mood monsters" and have vocalised how we are feeling daily. This week, we started our phonics scheme and have enjoyed learning the first sounds, practising letter formation in different and engaging ways. It has been a week filled with creativity and emotional exploration, enhancing our learning experience together.
