This week, our Secondary students participated in Global Wellbeing Week, a special initiative across Orbital schools dedicated to fostering mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. The week was designed to highlight the importance of integrating wellbeing into our daily lives through engaging activities that promote reflection, community, and self-care Each day focused on a different theme aligned with our core values...
We started the week's activities with Pyjama Day and a dedicated Wellbeing Assembly. Our student leadership team emphasised the crucial role sleep plays in maintaining good health and responsibility, setting a positive tone for the week. Students then explored relaxation and mindfulness techniques in a workshop, including meditation and Mandala Art Therapy. They contributed to a Self-Care Library display, encouraging calmness, creativity, and compassion towards oneself. This was followed on Wednesday with a lively exercise competition that saw students working together in house teams to complete physical challenges. These activities underscored the vital connection between physical health and overall wellbeing, promoting teamwork and resilience. Students reflected on the power of meaningful relationships. Key Stage 3 students wrote letters or emails to peers at other Orbital schools, while Key Stage 4 students acted as Teaching Assistants, supporting younger learners. These activities fostered empathy, leadership, and a sense of community. To conclude the week, students participated in a Reflective Tree activity, sharing insights from their experiences. They also collaborated with the Student Council to contribute ideas for the Orbital Wellbeing Charter, ensuring student voices shape our community’s approach to wellbeing.
This week has been a powerful reminder of how essential it is to look after ourselves and each other. Emphasising wellbeing in our daily activities supports not only academic success but also personal growth and happiness. We are proud of our students’ enthusiasm and dedication and look forward to nurturing these lessons throughout the year.
