Well-being played an important role in every child’s growth, learning, and happiness. When children understood how to look after their minds and bodies, they were better able to manage challenges, build positive relationships, and enjoy their learning. Supporting well-being from a young age helped children develop important life skills such as resilience, empathy, self-awareness, confidence, and kindness. It also encouraged them to recognise their emotions, ask for help when they needed it, and support others around them.

This week, our Primary took part in Global Well-being Week, a special opportunity for our children to focus on positive habits and explore different ways to care for themselves and one another. Throughout the week, students took part in assemblies and a range of activities designed to support their emotional, physical, and social well-being. These experiences encouraged meaningful conversations both in school and at home about how we can all take care of our well-being.

Each day of the week had a different theme linked to well-being. In our assemblies, children were introduced to these themes and encouraged to think about how they could apply them in their daily lives. The assemblies provided time for reflection, discussion, and celebration, helping children understand that well-being is something we can all practise and strengthen over time.

On Monday, the theme was Reset: Feeling Good and Staying Calm. Children learned how to recognise when they were feeling worried, stressed, or overwhelmed. They explored simple strategies to help themselves and others feel calm, such as breathing exercises, quiet reflection, and positive self-talk. This helped children understand that it is normal to experience different emotions and that there are helpful ways to manage them.

On Tuesday, the focus was Move: Growing Healthy and Strong. Children took part in a morning yoga session to get their bodies moving and their minds ready for the day. This activity helped students understand the connection between physical movement and feeling positive, focused, and energised. They were encouraged to think about how regular movement could support both their physical health and mental well-being.

On Wednesday, the theme was Connect: Connecting with Others. We enjoyed a whole-school breakfast together and spent break time reading together. These activities helped children build friendships, develop a sense of belonging, and connect with others across the school. Children were also invited to wear a hint of green on this day, such as green socks, a green hairband, or another small green accessory, while still wearing their school uniform.

On Thursday, children explored Thrive: My Happy Place. They reflected on the people, places, and activities that made them feel happy, safe, and calm. Children wrote down their ideas and used them to create a special piece of art, celebrating what helped them thrive and grow.

Finally, on Friday, the theme was Enjoy: Joy, Creativity and Celebration. We came together to celebrate the week and recognised the importance of taking care of our minds and bodies. Children were invited to come to school in their pyjamas, helping to create a fun and joyful end to the week.
